Being a warlike race, and receiving scars are badges of honor—though, there is distinction between “male” scars and “female” scars. Male scars are strictly earned in combat, and Female scars are much more decorative, elaborate and beautiful designs. For example, Equius (with his constant need to punch/be punched by robots) would scar him and make him very “male” attractive, while, Eridan—being a bit of a wimp opts for female scars, which are far more fashionable; this makes him much more “female” attractive. To counteract this, Lowbloods use tattoos in the way Highbloods use Scarification to symbolize beauty.
